The Alderman’s Corner
Dear neighbors and friends,
This year I have many things to be grateful for. My oldest daughter, Nora, graduated from high school and is a freshman in college. My second daughter, Grace, graduated from grammar school and is now a freshman in high school. My son, Patrick, is currently in fourth grade.
I am always thankful for my wife Katie. I am extremely grateful and feel so lucky to be representing our communities of the 11th Ward at City Council. In the six months I have been Alderman, I have been working hard to earn your respect and approval. I am thankful for my staff who share my commitment to provide everyone with the highest quality professional service. We see every day as an opportunity to improve our communities and make them even better.
We have a lot of construction going on throughout the Ward. From sewer lines to water mains; from new sidewalks to street resurfacing; from viaduct repairs to street light replacement, we are investing in our own infrastructure and our neighborhoods. In addition, Vienna Beef relocated from the north side of Chicago to 39th and Morgan, South Chicago Packaging expanded its operation on 38th and Morgan and ComEd will complete construction of its facility on 35th and Iron by December and start operating 1st quarter 2016. We continue to have strong residential development projects throughout the Ward. I am very focused on improving our retail opportunities, especially along the Halsted Street corridor. Every week I am promoting retail opportunities with developers and retailers. I do believe that we will see new retail projects in 2016.
So as we start the holiday season, I cannot help but think of how lucky I am. On behalf of my family, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
