Air Force Academy High School

The Air Force Academy High School (AFAHS) is a Level 2+ CPS military academy. In 2008, CPS officially approved AFAHS as the first Air Force Academy in CPS and the sixth public military academy within CPS Area 26 – Military Schools and JROTC. Along with its college-preparatory curriculum based on the Military Model, AFAHS places an emphasis on Aerospace Studies and literacy and offers French and Spanish as world language classes. The cadets of AFAHS follow the United States Air Force culture of integrity, service, and excellence. The current and founding principal of AFAHS is Cpt. Phillip D Armour Elementary School

Phillip D Armour Elementary School is a Level 2+ CPS neighborhood elementary school. Founded in 1901, Armour has served students from Pre-K to 8th grade for over 100 years. It is situated on a campus-style park with its two buildings–a primary school serving the Pre-K-2nd grade students and the main building that serves the 3rd-8th grade students. Equipped with two media centers, Armour encourages literacy in its students through the Children’s Literacy Initiative program. Bridgeport Catholic Academy

The Bridgeport Catholic Academy (BCA) was established in 1985 by several parishes within Bridgeport. It offers catholic education for students in Pre-K through 8th grade using the curriculum provided by the Archdiocese of Chicago. BCA also endeavors to deepen each student’s Christian faith by sharing the message of the Gospel in instruction, example, and prayer. Alexander Graham Elementary School

Graham has bilingual services for its mostly Hispanic student body. It also offers music classes in band, orchestra, choir, guitar, and violin. Robert Healy Elementary School

Partnered with the Chinese American Service League, the Children’s Inner City Education Fund, and Communities in Schools, Healy serves student from Pre-K through 8th grade and offers the comprehensive gifted program for 1st-8th grade. Healy participates in the Fine and Performing Arts Magnet program, integrating the arts (i.e. visual arts, music, dance, and drama) into core subject areas. With the majority of Healy’s student body being Chinese, Healy has Chinese bilingual services and Mandarin Chinese as a world language. Charles N Holden Elementary School is a Level 1+ neighborhood elementary school. The Mark Sheridan Math & Science Academy (MSA) is a Level 1+ magnet elementary school. George B McClellan Elementary School is a Level 1+ neighborhood elementary school. Abiding by the National Core Curriculum Standards, McClellan provides a rigorous education for Pre-K-8th grade students. St. Barbara Catholic School

St. Barbara Catholic School is an elementary school of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Established in 1910 as part of the St. Barbara Parish by Polish immigrants, it now serves students from Pre-K to 8th grade. St. Gabriel Catholic School was formed in September of 1881. For over 130 years, the school has provided a quality education integrated with Gospel values to students from Pre-K to 8th grade. St. Jerome Catholic School

St. Jerome Catholic School is an elementary school of the Archdiocese of Chicago. It was created in 1922 after a need for a parish school became apparent with the fluctuation of Croatian immigrants back then. Originally established to preserve Catholic faith and the Croatian language, St. Jerome now strives to develop spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social potential in its students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Santa Lucia Catholic School

Santa Lucia Catholic School is an elementary school dedicated to provide a diverse learning environment for students to be challenged in academics, to serve God and others, to become socially responsible, and to encourage their inherent creativity. Established in 1961, the school first served children of Italian-American families, but now it caters to a student body of diverse backgrounds–racially, religiously, and economically. Edward Tilden Career Community Academy HS

The Edward Tilden Career Community Academy is a Level 2 neighborhood high school. First known as Lake High School when it was built in 1881, the current Tilden building features over fifty murals of famous engineers, architects, scientists, and writers. While preparing students to be college and career ready, Tilden encourages students to pursue their personal, civic, and professional goals. Along with the core subjects, Tilden offers JROTC, fine and performing arts, culinary classes, and Spanish as a world language class. John A Walsh Elementary School

With Walsh’s beautiful school building and park, students from Pre-K through 8th grade are challenged to develop their math and reading skills. Walsh creatively engages its students through drawing classes and choir. Since the majority of its student body is Hispanic, Walsh offers bilingual services and Spanish as a world language class. James Ward Elementary School

James Ward Elementary School is a Level 1+ elementary school. The first section of the current building was erected in 1874 and is recognized as a Chicago Landmark for being Chicago’s oldest school building still in use as a school. Every school year, Ward comes up with a theme to empower its faculty and students in creating an academic environment that encourages intellectual, social, and emotional growth, whilst embracing cultural diversity such as through its Spanish world language program.
