I was approached by the purchaser of 2500 South Corbett Street/2420 South Halsted requesting a zoning change to the property. The reason for the proposed zoning change is to allow for an 112,104 +/- square foot industrial building with onsite parking.
I have been discussing the project with the developer, Prologis, and expressed certain concerns I have heard from our neighbors. First, traffic is a big problem. As you will see on the site plan below, all commercial truck traffic will be directed to Halsted Street. The smaller delivery vans
will have ingress and egress via Corbett Street or Senour Avenue. This will alleviate the noise and congestion along our residential streets. In addition, the heliport will be gone and therefore no more noise for our residents in the area.
Furthermore, this development will create approximately 150 permanent jobs and another 150
contract jobs for distribution in addition to the construction jobs. The project will generate significant real estate taxes and have a positive economic impact on our community.
