The Bridgeport Earth Day trash pickup event will begin at McGuane Park field house at 9:00 am
Saturday, April 23.. Our 5th annual cleanup is sponsored by Friends of the Parks in their county-wide
celebration of Earth Day. It isn’t just about picking up litter. It’s about improving the well-being of
residents who live here. Clean parks and neighborhoods feel safer and look good.
The cleanup caravan begins at the McGuane Park field house and spreads out around McGuane and
Palmisano Park, then travels around the neighborhood cleaning up on major streets. The McGuane
field house is located at 2901 S. Poplar (one block west of Halsted St.). Volunteers should check in at
McGuane field house by 9:30 am.
Organizers of the event will provide participants with tools and gloves to help pick up trash, but
participants are asked to bring their own if possible. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an
adult. This is an Earth Day celebration, so please remember to bring your reusable water bottles. Also
bring sun screen, sun glasses and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. We will be working, so dress
accordingly.
